Quahog's Dream
Quahog sleeps in the sand
under black water. A ghostly
shadow of a fishing boat
passes in his dream almost stately,

and scares Quahog. He gasps
and shed tears of fear. A tiny
bubble from his mouth ascends
from the bay bottom to the shiny,

troposphere. Octopus
hears the gasp of Quahog but swims
away. Gull ignores the bubble
while licking a tuna can to its brim.

You wake up by the gasp
of Quahog; On your cheek his tears
come down. Your day is ruined now
as most of your days are for years.

You look at your watery eyes
in the mirror, jump into them hoping
you can find and comfort Quahog,
which sits alone in the dark moping.
